About Us

Covington Youth Soccer Association was chartered by the State of Louisiana in 1982 as a non-profit organization to teach, promote, and govern the game of soccer for the benefit of the players, parents, and community of Covington and the surrounding area.  CYSA is a club and is not associated or funded by any governmental organization.  CYSA is not part of the Covington Recreational Department (CRD).  The membership of CYSA is composed of the parents and guardians of any child who pays fees and plays on a CYSA team.  CYSA is governed by an elected Board of Directors who serve two year staggered terms.  All board members are volunteers and receive no compensation.  CYSA has no employees and is supported and maintained entirely by volunteers.    

Affiliations – CYSA is affiliated with and is guided by the Louisiana Soccer Association (LSA), the US Youth Soccer Association (USYSA), the US Soccer Federation (USSF), US Club Soccer (USCS), and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). 

Coaches – The Director of Coaching (DOC) is Curt Aertker. Coach Curt has experience coaching boys and girls of all ages and is currently the head Coach of Mandeville Highschool Varsity Boys. He has helped coach and develop: 12+ LCSL championships; 3 National League appearances; Top 15 USA ranking; 15+ 1st team All-State players; Louisiana’s Offensive MVP; Louisiana’s Defensive MVP, Louisiana’s Player of the Year; High School All-Americans; Disney Showcase Championships. CYSA/CFC are proud to be considered the best developmental program on the Northshore. Our coaches are passionate about the game of soccer. CYSA Vision – The success of Covington FC starts with the recreational program, and the foundation is built with the academy program.  We have built our club on the foundation of technical soccer, and we pride ourselves on offering the best developmental program on the Northshore.  We have a philosophy that drives the development of young players because the foundation of our competitive teams are home-grown players. Covington FC is proven in its success at turning young potential into excellence, with the pathway producing a significant amount of talent throughout the years.  Covington FC players should immediately be recognizable by their technical abilities.

Rules and Regulations – The rules and regulations that CYSA operates under consist of the Articles of Incorporation, CYSA Bylaws and Policy Statements, FIFA Laws of the Game, Modified Playing Rules from the Youth Division of the USSF edited by CYSA and by the Northshore Recreational Soccer League (NRSL). 

Finances – CYSA is a nonprofit 501(c)3 association. All funds collected go to operating the soccer program.  The club has no paid employees although teams may enter into fee for services agreements with professional coaches and trainers.  Services of a Director of Coaching and licensed referees are contracted as needed with the authority of the Board of Directors.  A budget is adopted annually and followed throughout the year.  The financial records of CYSA are open for public review. CYSA generates revenue from registration fees, registration donation check-off, sponsorships, concessions, field rentals, and tournaments.  CYSA receives no monetary support from the City of Covington or St. Tammany Parish.
